摘要
Parnell and Wilde, although emotionally satisfying heroes, were incomplete; Yeats needed an image combining art and nationalism, which he found in Jonathan Swift, poet and Drapier. Much critical consideration of Yeats and Swift has emphasised Yeats's last years, when Swift emerged frequently in his poetry, drama, and prose, yet Yeats's earlier thoughts on Swift, although vacillating, were frequent, and are essential to an understanding of the roles Swift played in his life.1 KeywordsEighteenth CenturyGreat MinisterWillful IgnoranceDetective StoryDetective FictionThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
