摘要
Kaolin is used for the microwave‐assisted synthesis of silicon carbide ceramics in this study. The mechanisms of microwave reaction sintering are explored. Composition and structure of materials are analyzed and investigated. The flexural strength, reaction bonding behavior, open porosity, and bulk density of the porous ceramic materials are also investigated as a function of the sintering temperature. It is observed that with the elevating sintering temperature, the degree of interparticle bonding also increases, leading to densification of the ceramics and well‐formed sintering necks. Under the conditions of 1200 °C insulation for 20 min, the bulk density and apparent porosity of the composite material reached 1.93 g cm−3 and 34.4%, respectively. The flexural strength at room temperature is 70 ± 0.9 MPa. This work provides significant theoretical insights and practical applications for the development of high‐performance composite silicon carbide ceramic materials sintered at lowtemperature.
