The Fe /Cu-HMS catalysts with different Cu contents were synthesized by sol-gel method at room temperature, and were characterized by X-ray differential(XRD),N2 adsorption-desorption and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Without any organic solvent, its catalytic performance for benzyl alcohol oxidation to benzaldehyde was investigated. The results indicated that Fe and Cu were successfully incorporated into the framework of HMS,and a uniform mesoporous structure and good dispersion were found. It was found that the conversion of benzyl alcohol was about 69.9% with the selectivity of benzyl aldehyde reached 90.0% at the temperature of 80°C,when n(H2O2) /n(benzyl alcohol) = 2 ∶1,Fe/Cu(50)-HMS as catalyst, and reaction time of 4 h.In addition, the catalysts still had a good catalytic performance for benzyl alcohol oxidation after reused three times.
