Mechanical, electronic and photocatalytic properties of binary Ge-based materials GeX2 (X = B, C, N) with a pentagonal structure

In this work, a novel series of Ge based pentagonal GeX 2 (X = B, C, N) nanosheets with anisotropic mechanical properties were predicted. Of these, penta -GeC 2 showed superior performance in photocatalytic hydrogen evolution.
