摘要
In the current issue of Atherosclerosis, Oliveira-Santos and colleagues reported on the serial use of PET-CT imaging with sodium fluoride to evaluate the effect of rosuvastatin on atherosclerotic plaque progression [1]. Serial imaging of atherosclerotic disease has been widely employed over the course of the last three decades to characterize the factors that influence the natural history of the disease. When embedded within clinical trials of medical therapies, plaque imaging has provided important mechanistic insights into the potential impact of medical therapies on both the burden and composition of atherosclerosis.
