Electrocatalytic behaviours of metal oxides dispersed on glassy carbon electrodes in the presence of catechol and hydroquinone were investigated. In the cases of catechol and hydroquinone, product reversibility exists, both the oxidation and reduction reactions were catalyzed by the presence of metal oxide particles dispersed on glassy carbon surfaces. Their adsorption phenomena and mechanisms of electrode processes were described by thin layer cell cyclic voltammetry. Three separated peaks from the mixture of catechol, hydroquinone and ascorbic acid appeared on metal oxides dispersed on glassy carbon electrodes which might be useful for biochemical analysis of these compounds.
