Simulating Study of Flow Field and Heat Transfer Characteristics in Slab Continuous Casting Tundish

Flow field characteristics in slab continuous casting tundish at an Iron Steel Plant have been studied by water model experiment.It is found that residence time is short and dead zone is large in tundish with the former configuration.The flow field characteristics have been improved through optimizing study.In addition,flow field and heat transfer characteristics have been calculated through the mathematical simulation,the result proved that the tundish with optimizing configuration is feasible.
