Objective To investigate the disinfection property difference of electrolyzed-oxidizing water with chlorine disinfectants and chlorine dioxide. Methods Quantitative disinfection experiments for an electrolyzed-oxidizing water with effective chlorine content of 2 mg/L and some disinfectants such as trichloro-isocyanuric acid, sodium hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide were carried out. Results The disinfection property of the electrolyzed-oxidizing water within one minute's contact could match with the trichloro-isocyanuric acid and sodium hypochlorite solution with effective chlorine content of 40 mg/L,or the chlorine dioxide solution with 30 mg/L effective chlorine within one min. With increasing the contact time, the disinfection property difference of the disinfectants would become small. The disinfection property of the chlorine disinfectants with an effective chlorine content of 20 mg/L and 5 minutes' contact was close to that of the electrolyzed-oxidizing water. As compared with the chlorine disinfectants or chlorine dioxide with the same effective chlorine content, the electrolyzed-oxidizing water had a disinfection property of 10 times more than those disinfectants for a short contact time(0.5~1.0 minute). Conclusion The electrolyzed-oxidizing water will have a wide application in our daily life owing to its strong and rapid disinfection property under without organism condition.
