摘要
Dermatological Signs of Systemic Disease, 5th ed, published by Elsevier is the newest edition of the illustrated dermatology text. Dermatological Signs of Systemic Disease is intended for practicing dermatologists, academic physicians, and medical residents but still serves as an accessible reference text for primary care physicians. The text has an impressive list of authors and contributors, who have enhanced the quality and comprehensiveness of the text, and the content is well-organized and in a readable format. The authors succeed with the newest edition in providing a succinct readable text without compromising topic completeness. The publication comprises 48 succinct yet surprisingly comprehensive chapters. Each chapter begins with a list of key points to help focus the reader, and each key point is subsequently expanded upon throughout the chapter text. In general, each chapter highlights topic classification; associated pathophysiology; clinical manifestations; and differential diagnosis, recommended workup, and basic treatment guidelines. Each chapter concludes with a suggested reading reference list the authors have updated to facilitate the reader's accessibility to the most current literature on each topic. Over 500 high quality clinical images (200 new to this edition) demonstrate classic examples and enhance the quality of each chapter. Tables can also be found throughout the text and augment each chapter. The text is also redeemable as an eBook on Expert Consult, and in addition to the full-text features are quick access links to the clinical images. This book is not intended to be all-inclusive, but instead, functions as a well-organized text linking systemic diseases with cutaneous manifestations often encountered by dermatologists. The collections of contributing authors make this text extremely credible and a great reference for complex medical dermatology. This is an essential text for any academic or medical center–practicing dermatologist and serves as an excellent review for residents in training.
