The damage of borneol and its preparation on gastric mucosa in rats

OBJECTIVE To study the damage of borneol and its preparation on gastric mucosa in rats.METHODS Borneol was given by oral route at doses of 80mg·kg-1·d for 7 days in male rats.The ulcer index was evaluated by Guth standard.RESULTS There is a significant difference between control group and borneol treated group on ulcer index and a significant difference between borneol treated group and borneol preparation treated group on ulcer index.CONCLUSION Borneol induced gastric mucosa injury in male rats and borneol preparation reduced this damage to a certain extent.
