[Objective] To study the clinical significance of detection YB-1 protein expression in laryngeal carcinoma. [Methods] YB-1 protein expression were detected in 99 laryngeal carcinoma samples with immunohistochemistry. [Results] The positive rate of YB-1 protein expression in laryngeal carcinoma was 56.2%. The frequency of YB-1 protein expression in stage III-IV was significantly higher than that in stage I-II(P=0.018 5).YB-1 protein expression was associated with lymph node metastasis (P=0.002 2). The patients with YB-1 positive expression had significantly shorter survival periods (65.5%) than those with YB-1 protein negative expression (86.7%) (P=0.004 5, log-rank test). [Conclusion] It suggested that the detection of human YB-1 protein expression in laryngeal carcinoma samples may be helpful in judging the diagnosis, lymph nodes metestasis and prognosis.
