Excitation of nuclei by particles of near barrier energies

A quasiclassical variant of the coupled-channel method is used to investigate the excitation of nuclei with energies near the Coulomb barrier. The excitation probability for low-lying collective states is found to be quite sensitive to variations of parameters of the nuclear potentials and to the probabilities of electromagnetic transitions. Comparison with the perturbative calculations and with available experimental data is carried out. (auth)
