Preparation of the Pincushion-Like Multilayer Structure Materials by Amphiphilic Polymer for Biomimetic Super-Hydrophobic Materials

In this article, partly esterified β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) was obtained by esterification of β-cyclodextrin and maleic anhydride, and amidated β-CD derivative was synthesized by amidation of partly esterified β-CD and diethanolamine. The β-CD copolymers were prepared by copolymerization of amidated β‑CD derivative, styrene and γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane, which was used to prepare the honeycomb film by Breath Figure method. Further, the pincushion-like multilayer structure film was prepared by peeling off the upper pore of honeycomb film. The structures and compositions were characterized by infrared spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The properties and morphology were tested and analyzed by contact angles instrument, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and so on. The results show that the hydrophobic properties of honeycomb films are poor and different greatly, but all pincushion-like multilayer structure films achieve super-hydrophobicity, and the maximum contact angle reaches 166o. The main reason for the difference in hydrophobic properties of the two membranes is that the surface morphology of the two films have changed greatly. Meanwhile the pincushion-like films have the advantages of anti-fouling, waterproof, friction resistance, impact resistance, acid resistance, which has great industrial prospects.
