Advantageous electrochemical behaviour of new core–shell structured cathodes over nickel-rich ones for lithium-ion batteries

A core–shell structured Ni-rich NMC oxide (NR-CS) exhibits a specific capacity of 212 mA h g −1 with 89% capacity retention compared to the 67% capacity retention for LiNi 0.85 Mn 0.10 Co 0.05 O 2 (NMC85) after 120 cycles when tested at 20 mA g −1 .
