Controlled study of trazodone and amitriptylin in treatment of depression

Objective:To explore the efficacy of trazodone in the treatment of depression.Method:80 depressive patients were randomly divided into two groups.40 patients were treated with trazodone and others were treated with amitriptylin for 4 weeks.The therapeutic response and side effects were evaluated with the HAMD and TESS.Results:Trazodone and amitriptylin showed good effect in the treatment of depression,trazodone had similar efficacy to amitriptylin,and there were not significant difference between the two groups(P0.05);but side effects of trazodone were less and milder(P0.05 or P0.01).Conclusion:Trazodone is a safe,reliable effect in the treatment of depression.
