Effect of low-dose aspirin use on large intestine polyps in elderly

Objective:To investigate effect of low-dose aspirin use on large intestine polyps in elderly.Methods:52 subjects using low-dose aspirin and 63 controls were analyzed retrospectively according to colonoscopy examination results. Results:Large intestine polyp burden per year in subjects using low-dose aspirin for 4～6 years was lower significantly than that in subjects before using aspirin [(1.3±1.8)vs(2.9±5.2)mm per year, P 0.05 ].The polyp burden after using aspirin for 0～2 years [(2.6±6.6)mm per year]and 2～4 years[(2.0±3.8)mm per year] was not different in comparison with that before using aspirin respectively( P 0.05).Conclusions:Long-term low-dose aspirin use in elderly can inhibit growth of large intestine polyps.
