Objective To explore the expression and its significance of Notch1 protein in lymphoma. Methods By employing immunohistochemistry SP staining, the expressions of Notch1 in 50 lymphomas(30 T-cell lymphomas,13 B-cell lymphomas, and seven Hodgkin lymphomas) were detected, and 15 cases with lymph-node reactive hyperplasia served as controls. Results The positive expression rates of Notch1 in T-cell lymphoma,Hodgkin lymphoma and B-cell lymphoma were 70.00%(21/30),71.40%(5/7) and 23.80%(3/13),respectively.The expression of Notch1 was higher in Hodgkin lymphoma and T-cell lymphoma than that in the control and B-cell lymphoma(χ2=16.052,8.097;P=0.004;P0.05),the expression, however, between the control and B-cell lymphoma,Hodgkin lymphoma and T-cell lymphoma was not statistically different(P0.05). Conclusion The overexpression of Notch1 protein is probably related with the occurrence of lymphoma, the effect of Notch1 on the development of different-type lymphoma may be various.
