Crosslinked chitosan microsphere resin( CCMR) was prepared by inverse phase suspension method by using paraffin liquid as dispersed phase,glutaraldehyde as crosslinking agent and cyclohexane,ethyl acetate as the porogen. Adsorption behavior of a cross-linked chitosan resin for Cu( Ⅱ) was studied through static state adsorption experiment. The surface morphology and specific surface area were characterized by metallurgical microscope and surface area analyzer. The effect of initial concentrations of Cu( Ⅱ) on the adsorption properties and absorption kinetics of Cu( Ⅱ) were studied by UV-Vis spectroscopy. Results from tests indicated that the obtained microspheres showed higher surface area and better absorption performance with the increase of amount of porogen. The equilibrium adsorption capacity of chitosan microspheres for Cu( Ⅱ)( 8 mg / m L) was 190 mg / g when 100 m L cyclohexane and 5 m L ethyl were used. The adsorption process followed pseudo-second-order kinetics.
