The Dynamic Observation on Transient Synovitis of the Hip Joint in Children by Ultrasonography

Objective To study the course of disease and prognosis of transient synovitis for the hip joint in children. Methods 596 cases with a clinical diagnosis of transient synovitis of the hip joint were assessed and typed by using bilateral ultrasonography. The course and prognosis of the disease were observed dynamically. Results The course of disease were 3～11 days and 7-49 days,the mean time were 6.5days and 14.5 days for type of joint capsule swelling and type of joint capsule effused respectively. None of them have Legg-Calve-Perthes disease etc complication. Conclusions The ultrasonography typing of transient synovitis of the hip joint may preliminary estimate its course of disease. The ultrasonography dynamic examination may objectively observe the change of joint capsule. The bed traction is an effective method for treatment of the disease.
