Several lubricants were used in an investigation of combing performance. Frictional forces, noil production, number of neps, fibre breakage, and general combing performance were investigated for different amounts of lubricants present. About 2% fatty matter for vegetable and mineral oils and 1% for water-soluble compounds resulted in optimum conditions.
