[Objective] To investigate the localization of CRF1 IR neurons in the enteric system of guinea pig and the co-localization of CRF1 with other chemical codings. [ Method ] RT-PCR and Western-blot were combined to study the expression of CRF1 in the enteric nerve system of guinea pig. Immunoflu-orescene was adopted to identify the morphology, distribution and co - localization with other chemical codings of CRF1 IR neurons. [Result] CRF1 was presented in the neurons of submucosal plexus as well as myenteric plexus with Dogiel type Ⅱ morphology. CRF1 IR was found in neurons with cal-bindin, substance P and NF 200. [Conclusion] There are neurons expressing CRF1 mRNA in the enteric nerve system of guinea pig. CRF1 IR is localized in the ganglion cells of both submucosal and myenteric plexus. CRF1 neurons are all Dogiel type Ⅱ and may be intrinsic primary afferent neurons.
