A fiber optic sensor for simultaneous measurement of tilt angle and temperature

A simple and compact sensor for simultaneous measurement of the tilt angle and temperature is presented.The sensor is composed of a fiber taper and a fiber Bragg grating.The tilt angle is measured by monitoring the tilt-induced loss of the taper,while the fiber Bragg grating provides the sensor an additional capability of temperature measurement by monitoring the wavelength of the Bragg grating.The fiber Bragg grating is also for enhancing the tilt angle sensitivity.
