This essay provides an overview of bioreactor membrane (MBR) technology and its recent applications in industrial sewage treatment in wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). It begins with an introduction that outlines the importance of industrial sewage treatment and the paper's purpose. It then provides an overview of industrial sewage treatment in WWTP, the current challenges faced in this area, and the need for advanced wastewater treatment technologies. Next, their benefits and challenges are presented with the recent application of MBR technology in industrial sewage treatment in Shanghai Jinshanwei WWTP.
