Abstract 5‐Hexenal (I) reacts with trimethylsilyl phenyl selenide (II) in the presence of zinc diiodide to produce the adduct (III) which undergoes radical‐induced intramolecular cyclization to give the isomeric methylcyclopentyl trimethylsilyl ethers (IV).
