Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of continuous venovenous hemofiltration(CVVH)and hemodialysis(HD)in patients with tetramine poisoning. Methods Sixteen patients with tetramine poisoning were treated with HD and CVVH.Results In the whole patients the average APACHE II score declined and average Glasgow score increased after the blood purification procedure.Especially the damage to nerve system, heart and liver from tetramine could be ameliorated more effectively and quickly by CVVH than by HD.Conclusion HD and CVVH treat tetramine poisoning safely and effectively.CVVH is priority chosen in patients with severe tetramine poisoning.
