Laser Micromachining in Biomedical Industry

In the age of downsizing, laser micromachining (LMM) technology has proven to be a reliable tool. This chapter briefly summarized the various laser machining techniques and their application in the biomedical industry. Additionally, an effort is made to identify the most popular platforms on which LMM has been employed. The major application of laser machining are in the fabrication of (1) bio-implants, (2) surgical tools, (3) biosensing devices, (4) bio-fluidics devices, (5) prosthetics, and many more. This chapter gives an overview of the application of LMM in the field of biomedicine as well as its significance and successes.
