The Cover Feature shows the transformation of post-consumer waste polyethylene terephthalate (PET) into terephthalic acid by mechanochemical ball milling, vapor-assisted aging, or their combination. Near-quantitative PET conversion, high yields and purity of terephthalic acid, and selectivity in mixtures of different plastics can be achieved at ambient temperature and pressure.
