Objective: To explore the prevalence of depression and its risk factors in diabetes mellitus in 1-3 level hospitals in Hailing District,Taizhou city,Jiangsu province.Methods: Beck depression inventory was used to evaluate depression in 161 diabetes mellitus patients.Meanwhile,correlative risk factors were recorded and analyzed.Results:(1) The prevalence rate of depression among all the diabetes was 46.6%.(2) The factors associated with depression disorder were:diabetic complication,use of insulin and body mass index.Conclusion:(1) The prevalence of depression among diabetes is high.More attention should be paid to screening depression in clinical practice.(2) Depression is correlated with severity of diabetes and psychological resistant because of the use of insulin.In order to reduse the prevalence of depression,we should give diabetes patients psychotherapy.
