The thermodynamic stability of the chemically prepared AgO used for Zn/AgO reserve batteries and the efficiency of the surface treatment were studied, the activation energy of the decomposition and the battery′s storage life were calculated, and the batterie′s performances stored for different period were investigated. The researches results indicate that before or after the surface treatments with Na_2SiO_3 or frubber, the decomposition activation energy of AgO was in the range of 128~130kJ/mol; the thermodynamic research method was not suitable for the reactions of polyisobutylene with AgO chemically reacted at 50℃ and up; the discharge capacity, the utilization of the AgO positive electrode and the content of AgO of the batteries stored for 5 to 25 years were almost unchanged;the holding rate of discharge capacity was more than 90%,the positive electrode utilization was approx to 80%,and the AgO content of the batteries was more than 87%.
