Expression of S100A4 Protein in 47 Cases with Human Lung Adenocarcinoma and its Clinical Significance

[Purpose] To investigate the expressions of S100A4 protein in lung adenocarcinoma tissues,cancer around tissues and normal lung tissues and their clinical significance.[Methods]The expression of S100A4 protein was detected by SP immunohistochemistry in 47 cases with lung adenocarcinoma and cancer around tissues(approximately 3~5cm from the cancer tissues),15 cases with normal lung tissues.[Results] There was no S100A4 expression in normal lung tissues.The positive expression rates of S100A4 were 12.8%(6/47)in cancer around tissues and 59.6%(28/47)in lung adenocarcinoma tissues.There was significantly difference between lung adenocarcinoma and normal tissue or cancer around tissues(P0.05).The expression of S100A4 protein in lung adenocarcinoma was associated with both differentiation grade and lymph node metastasis.[Conclusions] Expression of S100A4 protein was positively related with the occurrence or lymph node metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma,and negtively related with its differentiation.
