Determination of volatile sulfur compounds in water by purge and trap pre-concentration and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in SIM mode

A method for the determination of trace volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) in water,including carbon disulfide(CS2),dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and dimethyl disulfide (DMDS),has been developed with purge and trap pre-concentration followed by GC-MS analysis in SIM mode.The linear responses were observed for CS2,DMS and DMDS in the ranges of 0.03~3.42,0.17~2.72 and 0.04~3.41 μg/L,with correlation coefficients (r) of 0.9967,0.9930 and 0.9959,respectively.The relative standard deviations (n=5) were all below 6.0% for repeated analysis of CS2,DMS and DMDS in different concentrations.The method detection limits were 3.75,11.33 and 2.10 ng/L for CS2,DMS and DMDS,respectively.
