Liquid and Metallic Nanowires in Fibers: A Novel Base for Nanophotonics and Optofluidics

Liquid and metallic nanowires inside microstructured optical fibers provide new functionalities for various fields such as plasmonics and biophotonics. Here I review our results on spiraling plasmons, nanoparticle tracking and coherent mid-IR light generation.
