摘要
Abstract This paper consists of some general theoretical comments on the structure and swelling behavior of network polymers. The importance of network topology is emphasized. A hypothetical network consisting of “ghost” chains, which could pass freely through one another, would tend to shrink to submicroscopic size. This supercontraction would be prevented by either a volume exclusion effect or a restriction against cutting through (i.e., against alteration of network topology). In real networks, both of these restrictions are present. The swelling behavior of network polymers which were swollen at the time of network formation is discussed in terms of a crude molecular model.
