Breed directors - on the verge of extinction? : my view - genetics & handling

Who is the driver when it comes to the management of a breed? Is it the breed director, president, board of directors or breeders? Looking at the history of South African breed societies, there is no clear answer. In all of these job descriptions there were legends, but also less successful people. What one breed managed to do with a strong breed director and a weak board of directors, the next accomplished with a good president and average breed director.
