[Objective] The research aimed to judge and evaluate the environmental quality of the soil, and further offer assistance to the early warning instructions.[Method] By the two-room-unit avoidance response appliance of earthworm, the avoidance behavior of Eisenia andrei(Oligochaeta: Lumbricidae) in the soil environment which was contaminated by carbendazim was studied.[Result] The avoidance behavior was detected when carbendazim concentration was higher than 0.8 mg/kg.No avoidance behavior could be observed when the concentration fell below 0.2 mg /kg.[Conclusion] The earthworm could be as an early warning indicator of carbendazim in contaminated soil.
