摘要
Purpose This study aims to examine the corrosion behavior of copper and its alloys in a harsh marine environment, focusing on the effects of zinc, tin and beryllium. Design/methodology/approach Copper, brass, bronze and beryllium copper samples were exposed to marine conditions for 48 months. Corrosion products were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Electrochemical tests and Pourbaix diagrams provided insights into corrosion mechanisms. Findings Beryllium copper showed the best corrosion resistance due to its dense oxide layer, while brass suffered from dezincification. Copper and bronze exhibited moderate corrosion, primarily forming copper chlorides and oxides. Originality/value This study highlights the role of alloying elements in improving corrosion resistance, offering key insights into the durability of copper alloys in marine environments.
