Effect of the following technological parameters on the process in which lithium carbonate is precipitated from an aqueous solution of lithium hydroxide by passing carbon dioxide was studied: presence of disperser, agitation of the reaction medium, and ratio of the height of the liquid column to the apparatus diameter of the apparatus in which the precipitation is performed. It was found that the most important factor affecting the precipitation process is the presence of a disperser. Agitation affects the precipitation process to a lesser extent. The optimal ratio of the liquid column height to the apparatus diameter is no less than 2.6, with the expenditure of carbon dioxide corresponding to the stoichiometric value in this case (1.77 dm 3 per gram of lithium). At a smaller ratio, a greater excess of carbon dioxide is required.
