Perioperative Nursing of Arthroscopic Treatment of Rotator Cuff Repair

Objective To investigate perioperative rehabilitation and nursing of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.Methods From November 2008 to August 2010,110 patients with rotator cuff injury were treated with arthroscopic rotator cuff repair in our hospital.The rehabilitation care plans were made for all the patients before surgery.Progressive passive functional exercises for the patients were urged as soon as possible.The shoulder function was evaluated by University of California at Los Angeles(UCLA) scoring system before surgical treatment and at the last follow-up,respectively.Results All the patients were followed up for 6 to 19 months,with an average of 12.7 months.The average scores were 14.3±3.6 and 33.4±1.4 for pre-operation and post-operation,respectively.The difference was statistically significant(P0.01).The results showed excellent shoulder function in 65 cases,good in 25 cases and moderate in 20 cases.Conclusion Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair has advantage of less trauma and faster recovery.Appropriate perioperative rehabilitation and nursing is an effective way to restore shoulder function,which plays an important role in functional recovery.
