Addressing the issues of resource waste and environmental pollution caused by coal spontaneous combustion, this paper develops a green and environmentally friendly coal spontaneous combustion inhibitor (GEI) with plant extracts, inorganic salts, and high molecular weight polymers as its core components. Its inhibition performance, thermal stability, and environmental characteristics are systematically studied through experiments. The experiments utilize lignite from the Yulin mining area in Shaanxi Province as the research subject, preparing treated coal samples with different ratios of coal samples to GEI slurry. Methods such as zeta potential testing, thermogravimetric analysis, coal spontaneous combustion ignition marker gas testing, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy are employed for research. The results indicate that GEI achieves efficient inhibition through a triple synergistic mechanism of “physical barrier-chemical suppression-microscopic stabilization,” significantly shifting the characteristic temperature of coal spontaneous combustion to a later stage and significantly reducing the concentrations of CO and CO2. This provides a green and efficient technical solution for the prevention and control of coal spontaneous combustion and is of great significance for the sustainable development of the coal industry and ecological environment protection.
