Objective To explore the clinical effect of continuous EMG monitoring facial muscle on the neural anatomy and function reserving of facial nerve during and after operation.Methods Based on retrospective review,102 surgical patients were divided into intraoperative facial nerve monitoring(IFNM) group(46cases) and no intraoperative facial nerve monitoring(non-IFNM) group(56cases).Facial nerve function(FNF) was assessed and compared by a modified House-Brackmanngra ding(H-B) before the operation,two weeks after the operation between the two groups.At the same time,the ratio of facial nerve preservation Was compared between the two groups.Results There Was no significant difference in the FNF between two groups before operation(Z=-0.753,P=0.452),and there Was significant difference in the FNF between both groups after operation at two weeks(Z=-2.109,P=0.035).The ratio of facial nerve preservation of the non-IFNM group was 71.43%(40/56),and it was 91.30%(42/46)in the IFNM group.Conclusion It demonstrated the intraoperative monitoring of facial nerve function with EMG during surgical treatment of large size acoustic neuroma is significantly effective on anatomical and functional preserving for facial nerve.It can significantly improve patients' quality of Life.
