摘要
The Armament D i v i s i o n mainta ins several unique a i rborne i n f r a r e d inst rumentat ion systems f o r the t e s t and evaluat ion of var ious programs. This paper w i l l review the two i n f r a r e d systems p resen t l y used and t h e i r t e s t techniques. The Beam Approach Seeker Evaluat ion Systems (BASES) and the Supersonic Ai rborne In f ra red Measurement System (SAIMS) are complex da ta c o l l e c t i o n systems c a r r i e d on s p e c i a l l y modi f ied F-4D a i r c r a f t . General techniques f o r c o l l e c t i n g s ignature data on a i r c r a f t , f l a r e s and ground t a r g e t s w i l l be discussed. A d e s c r i p t i o n of techniques f o r eva lua t i ng m i s s i l e performance vs countermeasures, end-game t rack ing and seeker a c q u i s i t i o n range w i l l a lso be reviewed. Two a d d i t i o n a l systems c u r r e n t l y i n development w i l l a lso be discussed. These systems are the I n f r a r e d Ca l i b ra ted Ai rborne S p a t i a l Measurement System ( I R CASMS) and the Airborne Spectra l I n f r a r e d Measurement System (ASIMS). I R CASMS w i l l be a h igh s p a t i a l r e s o l u t i o n radiometer flown on an NC-130A opt imized t o measure ground targets . ASIMS w i l l be c a r r i e d on F-40 a i r c r a f t and w i l l measure the i n f ra red ( I R ) s ignature o f a i r c r a f t , f l a res , and jammers. ur/
