摘要
Abstract This paper presents a systematic approach to the assessment of tool-wear/tool-life and provides a new relationship between the effective engaged cutting edge and tool-wear in machining with grooved tools. It is found that the tool-wear patterns change with varying cutting edge angles and nose radii; both of which affect the engaged length of the cutting tool. Four different cutting edge angles and nose radii are tested. Tool-life is then validated by a new tool-life equation which includes the operational effects of the cutting edge angle and the tool nose radius.
