摘要
Natural products have historically constituted a crucial supply of medicinal substances, playing afundamental role in the advancement of contemporary pharmaceuticals. Their structural diversity andbiological specificity render them significant possibilities for drug discovery, especially for thetreatment of intricate diseases such as cancer, infectious disorders, and metabolic problems. This studyseeks to deliver an extensive examination of the function of natural products in drug discovery, emphasising their origins, mechanisms of action, and contemporary technical innovations. Asystematic review methodology was utilised, entailing the aggregation and examination of peerreviewed literature from prominent scientific databases spanning the last twenty years. We carefullylooked at studies on plant-derived substances, microbial metabolites, marine natural products, and newtechnologies to provide a complete picture of the field. The results show that natural products have alot of therapeutic potential because they work in many ways, such as fighting cancer, reducinginflammation, and acting as antioxidants. Improvements in computational approaches, artificialintelligence, metabolomics, and high-throughput screening have made it easier to find and improvebioactive chemicals. Also, new methods like fermentation and nanotechnology have made naturalcompounds more bioavailable and useful in medicine. In conclusion, natural products are still animportant part of drug discovery, and combining them with contemporary technologies should speedup the creation of new and better medicines in the future.
