An analogical model describing the generation and dissipation of pore pressure excess due to the rapid, mutual high rate sliding of two water-saturated layers, composed of glued arrays of imperfect cylindrical rods, is presented. The mathematical model consists of momentum equations of the solid mass coupled with the continuity of the fluid mass. The model allows to investigate the occurring mechanisms of energy dissipation, such as mutual collisions and frictional sliding of grains, as well as seepage flow through interstices among the rods, depending on some non-dimensional factors. Results may be of particular interest for run-out analyses of flow slides.
