Triterpenoid derivatives from Barringtonia racemosa

Abstract Using various chromatographic separations, two triterpenoid glucosides and three triterpenoid acids were isolated from a methanol extract of the Barringtonia racemosa branches and leaves. Their structures were elucidated as niga‐ichigoside F1 ( 1 ), rosamultin ( 2 ), 23‐hydroxytormentic acid ( 3 ), arjunic acid ( 4 ), and maslinic acid ( 5 ) by using extensive NMR spectroscopic analysis as well as comparison of the NMR data with those reported. This is the first report of compounds 1 ‐ 4 from B. racemosa .
