Observation on effect of artificial tears in the treatment of dry eyes

Objective To evaluate the effect of artificial tears on the symptom,objective sign and the disorder of corneal epithelium in dry eye patients.Methods This clinical trial involved 134patients(268eyes)which were diagnosed as dry eye syndrome and the 268 eyes were randomly divided into 2 groups:Bion Tears-treated group(134 eyes)and Tears Naturale-treated group(134 eyes).The discomfortableness of eyes and all over the body,the symptom of dry eye,conjunctival congestion,the quantity of the secretion patch in the tear-film,fluorescent bangle staining of cornea,tear break-up time and Schirmer test were tested and marked before treated and 1,2,4,6,8 weeks after operation.Results The 2 groups have no discomfortableness of eyes and all over the body and the degree of comfort in Bion Tears-treated group surpass Tears Naturale-treated group.The rational symptom in the 2 groups have been obviously improved 4,6,8 weeks after operation and the burning and foreign body sensation in Bion Tears-treated group were obviously lessened,the difference was significant(P0.05)and the others have no significance(P0.05).The break-up time(BUT)in the 2 groups have been obviously extended 1 week after operation and the BUT in Bion Tears-treated group surpass Tears Naturale-treated group 4,6,8 weeks after operation,the difference was significant(P0.05).The sports of fluorescent bangle stainng of cornea in the 2 groups have been obviously reduced 1 week after operation and the quantity of stained in Bion Tears-treated group fewer than Tears Naturale-treated group 4,6,8 weeks after operation,the difference was also significant(P0.05).After treatment,the Schirmer test wetting was lengther in the 2 groups and the difference between the 2 groups have no significantly(P0.05).Conclusion Bion Tears and Tears Naturale can be used to improve on the symptom,objective sign and the disorder of corneal epithelium in dry eye patients and they all have no adverse effect.Bion Tears has a higher degree of comfort and the curative effect is predominance.
