Metacognition regards cognition as a cognitive target; it exercises monitoring and adjusting functions over cognition of objects. Metacognition consists of three elements of self-awareness and the elements different from self-awareness, that is, metacognitive knowledge, metacognitve experience and metacognitive monitor and the three corresponding components such as self-awareness, self-experience and self-adjustment. Self-awareness corresponds with the ultimate goal of metacognition.
