The recent advance of the catalytic activity to methacrylates polymerization (PMAA) of rare earth organometallic complexes involving cyclopentadienyl types is reviewed. The effects of the temperature, solvent, reaction time and other factors to polymerization in different catalytic systems involving cyclopentadienyl types are systematically summarized and the catalytic mechanism is also discussed. Finally, prospects of the rare earth organometallic chemistry involving cyclopentadienyl types in the future are described.
