Comparison of the citrus arantium and salvia officinalis aroma impacts on post cesarean anxiety

Introduction: post cesarean anxiety is followed by reducing resistance against infections, accordingly, anxiety management is one of high significant factors for the health of mothers and newborns. The aim of this study is evaluation of the aromatic effects of Citrus aurantium and Salvia officinal son post cesarean anxiety. Methods: This clinical trial was conducted on 120 women, referring to the Motazedi hospital of Kermanshah for cesarean in 2015.The subjects were randomly divided into two intervention groups and one control group. In the intervention groups, aromatherapy was performed with three drops of essence immediately after the onset of pain and after12hours. Anxiety was assessed using STAI.For data analysis, ANOVA, Tucky, Chi-square, and were performed. Findings: before intervention, there was no significant difference on mean of anxiety in three groups. After intervention these two aromas had the same effect on reducing post cesarean anxiety. Conclusion: It is recommended to use both aromas as a simple, on-invasive and economical technique to reduce post cesarean anxiety.
