Orthokeratology and Atropine 0.01%: Strong together against Myopia?

Purpose: Orthokeratology is widely used in the Netherlands for myopia intervention treatment with many practical sports and play benefits to this treatment modality. Providing careful instructions and strict monitoring, and with good compliance there are few complications in children. However, just like low-dose atropine it does not always give the desired myopia inhibitory result. To optimize treatment without adding too much burden for parents and child the possible synergic treatment effect in applying optical and therapeutic intervention together has been researched. The purpose of this literature review was to evaluate the combination treatment of orthokeratology and 0.01% atropine.
